The pots that you see are not supported as one is hanging out each side but if there is only one out one side with a bunch of bananas on it I have to tie it to the top of the gh to stop it tiping the pot over,Don.

If you really want something to drool over I will try to get you some pics of the tropical house at a hydro shop in Perth.they have bananas pawpaws and custard apples.I can't see why you wouldn't be able to do the same with ap,Don.

IBC = 1000l Plastic tank, used for carting oil, coolant, chemicals, soap etc around on the back of trucks. Usually square with white plastic and an aluminium cage. Nice and strong when in their cage.

nice work Don!

what is the root structure of a bannana like? is there any tree / plant you wouldn't plant in a blue barrel?

do you have any root clogging issues?

Could you post a picture of the buckets that the bananas are grown in and how you are irrigating them? I have been thinking of bananas in buckets for the new extension of my home system.

Will send you some soon pictures soon,I am also having computer problems and I am not very computer literate .The two are a bad combination. The buckets are half 200 litre drums.Cheers,Don.

The pots have a 19 mm pipe to drain back to the sump and a 12 mm pipe feeding through 4mm line to feed them. The tropical fruit that Nocky mentions is a pepino,I grow them in a hanging pot because they want to sprawl all over the place so it is easier to let them just hang.Besides everything likes them so if you hang them the pests can't get them.I use predaters for white fly and spider mites which eliminates most of the spraying.Don.

I have had to take the return pipe off once to clean the roots out but it is not a major problem. The roots are a bit like a palm or a grass tree.

Steve ,, did the Melbourne ones grow their own yella T-shirts and ugg-boots?
:D :o  My Sydney owns seemed to automatically realise they lived in the Capital.

Grown in a raised bed reduces Snail attacks. I believe a 3 tire level is good for dirt gardening.
