The new fish seem quite happy and active a day after shipping. Yes, I threw them a few flake crumbs..

Yes, However I can not complain now. I just captured and shipped some and it was hard as Ell to catch the little buggers. They stirred up all the junk in the bottom; or I did. So now Im the one shipping manky water

Well, I lost my only female; I think. The male killed her or she got stuck in a small pipe trying to get away is my guess.

I guess I may have to let the current babies grow up or I might buy some penny fish breeder.

I I build my own led lights I can get them cheap. ~.12 cents each if I order $100 or more. So under $8 for a 64 led light like I bought from ebay.

They are just animated gifs converted from short clips shot with my camera. Seems that flash streaming video no longer works on the forum :(

I use ulead www gif animator to import the movie. I use sony vegas to work with video, but any program will work that you can export video from with a settable frame rate. Export at the same frame rate as you plan on using in the gif. The less pictures you have the better. I *try* to make all my gifs under a meg in size.

Well, I netted a couple fish today.

The small fish weigh 6 grams each. There are about 120 of them. So thats 720 grams of fish. I need to feed them 21.6 grams of food each day.

The larger fish are about 278 grams each. There is only 16 of them, so thats 4448 Grams; I need to feed 133 grams per day. Or should I feed only 2% now that they are 6 or 7 months old?

I have 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, and 0 nitrates. I guess this system cycled when I was not looking  The readings stay at 0, even if I add to the ammonia. My pH was 7.6'ish last time I looked ( a week ago). Truth is I have not been monitoring it but once every three or four weeks. I have two mint and two basil plants in the system and they looked very puny for a long time and now they have turned green and are looking healthy! So, I planted some pepper, cucumber, and squash seeds. Even though the test read 0 on everything the plants are telling me there must be something working.

The system was designed for 80 pounds of fish in 12 monthly stages of growth (360 fish in all). However, now I'm thinking I want more fish in there :)

I am going to order 3 or 4 female penny fish and a male penny fish and see if they really do grow 40% more meat. I really have no choice at this point..
