Yep, I went three.
Might as well, whilst your on the job.
You'd hate to have to retro fit them later.
An extra couple of meters of metal now, is allot cheaper than a new grow bed later !

thanx Veebs and jim.

other dude is the old man ;)

really? 3? to be honest i really CBF ;) the beds are in place and i'm ready to drill and fill when i get home...........

of course if you guys honestly think that they wont hold then i'll do it.

i'm planning on using 3/4 scoria and 1/4 clay.

the scoria is about the same density as the clay.

the single centre support really seems to brace it well..........

I think the 3 supports would be neede for say blue metal

If using lighter weight bed material ,, no problems with the one support IMHO.

Also depends on the thickness / strength of the bottom of the containers.

Bit hard for me to comment since I have a different make of bed Stevo. With my F'glass ones I got a little bit of sag using gravel when I had only 2 cross pieces. From then on I made a point of adding 3 and now that the stand with only 2 has not bed on it anymore (change of system) I'll retrofit this also. With clay it would be a whole different matter - but I'd not be inclined to do any less than 2. Is easier to do now than later and given you have one in the middle, why not put another 2 in just to be sure.

i know, i know, but the BYAP beds have two of those molded 45's leading to the center where the extra two supports would go..........

LOL, even as i type i know that i'm not going to bother with the two extra supports............UNLESS joel or monya tells be that they're needed even if only using expanded clay ;)
