Ive been working on a new GB for my IBC system , pics tomorrow if I remember

so far its an IBC base minus cage and skin , bolted 3 legs to it and somehow maneuvered it over the existing GB and tank , past the patio roof , between two walls and its now sitting on top of the tank , covering 2/3rds ( ibcs are 100 x 120 , so this one sits on top of the tank rotated 90 degrees to the tank )

tomorrow need to cut the skin down to be the same height as whats left of the steel cage ( I left one side of that at full height for things to grow up ) , chock up the front corner of the ibc base / stand thing thats currently resting on the tank top , then measure for the 4th leg which will be welded in place next week

so hopefully I'll have another 350L growbed standing above my tank within a week , not swaying voilently due to the shoddy workmanship I did fixing the 3 legs that its got so far . Im assuming its all going to be dead weight & not move around much

Has anyone had any luck growing either passionfruit or kiwifruit in AP ? Thats what Im thinking , as theres plenty of room for vines to take over - the top of this new GB will sit at fence height

Otherwise I guess I just grow tomatoes / pumpkins / sweet poatoes in it

Boris,,,I've forgotten which thread it's in but someone has a passion-fruit vine that is HUGE,,I mean HUMUNGOUS. Definately worth doing.
Can't see why Chinese gooseberries ( Kiwi,,blah) wouldn't work also.

heh Rupe , thats what the NEXT system thread is going to be , Ive got the bricks ready for the next "pond" , trying to work up the energy to actually lay the damn things

Tried to take photos today . of the 14 rechargeable AA batteries Ive got , they are ALL flat ...

Stood on top of the new GB support today ( despite there being only 3 legs ) , it seemed pretty damn stable , the neighbours dogs looked at me wierd though

Trout not eating again , it looked liek rain all day so I assumed it was air-pressure related , I better do a water test tomorrow . or sleep in

mods can change the name of this thread if you like

The thread being in General System Discussions rather than Member Systems may have something to do with some people missing it too.

I have officially given up on rechargeable batteries now, until some sort of decent ones are sorted out. Energiser Lithiums give me 2 months of ap photo taking, rechargeable nimh energisers give me 10 photos  Proper computer battery charger and all...

Quick update :

"ordered" the 4th leg for my 2nd growbed on the existing system - a mates gonna cut it at work and we'll hopefully weld it on this coming weekend , then I should have pics of a new growbed in action

Today was spent ....

building a brick pond !
7 - 8 metres long , 50x50cm . Ive got 2 more courses of bricks to lay ( hopefully tomorrow ) , let it dry then render the inside to really seal it / strengthen it , then Im waiting on a mate to fibreglass it

got to look into fibreglassing , I remember here somewhere that someone poted the right and WRONG stuff to use .
Im going to wash out the rendered pond first and let it dry for a few weeks , then the same once the fibreglass is on , then after that I'll be going for the black potable-water-grade paint/sealer that C1 suggested

Seeing as this is a long thin pond/tank , holding about 1500L ( I think ) , does anyone see a huge problem in installing this spare 3500LPH pump that I scored off my uncle for circulation / aeration ?
Or will the fish be swimming backwards ....

hehehe maybe they'll turn out fit and lean and ready to eat
