I suspect that you will need more potassium, though a lack of phosphorus can cause leaves o curl backwards and droop while compromising fruit production.

I have several things to catch up on. I will try to get it done over the next few days. I have been gone for a month to the U.S. to witness my son graduating from university one week and getting married the next. While in the US my time was not wasted and I was able to build my father-in-law a system in Texas. He is a gardener but not as young as he once was so I figured it would be nice for him to have something he could maintain with out getting out the Roto Tiller. Anyway, that is for another thread.

I came back to El Salvador and was amazed to see how much everything had grown. Back in November I planted a passion fruit in one of the grow beds quite by accident. it was in bag and I simply set the bag on the grow bed and when I remembered it a couple of weeks later, it had rooted and it would have taken too much work for carefully extricate the roots so I left it. It has now spread to the top story of the house and onto the roof over the kitchen, pulling significant nutrients from the system. It is probably a good thing though because I now calculate I have in excess of 450 lbs of tilapia in the tank. They are eating more than 1 lb of food per day. I really need to start eating them. Anyway, the passion fruit is flowering now so I hope to have some fruit in the near future.

I am coming to the conclusion that I need to choose more native plants to grow in my grow beds. I have been yearning for nice large slicing tomatoes so that is what I am trying to grow with very little luck. I have had a some that have made it all the way through harvest but not in an amount that is commercially viable. However, I also planted a couple of plants of Romas and they have done VERY well. I guess there is a reason that is what everyone grows here. With the others I am getting mildews, possible white fly, and to be truthful I am not sure what all, but the toms have been a bit of a disappointment. I have tried iron, potassium, phosphorous, milk spray, garlic and onion spray.... all of that is probably what has damaged them. But I digress.

Okra is doing splendid, Basil...what can I say? Basil everywhere! Swiss chard is incredible, I have a lime tree that that is only 7 months old and I have harvested 5 limes and there are 25 ping pong ball size ones on it which will be ready to eat by mid July or so. I have a paw paw that is doing well and cilantro, ginger, oregano, rosemary, pineapple, and one watermelon vine. All are doing well.

I wanted to do a before and after picture so you could see this. The day I set the passion fruit in the growbed and forgot about it, I also laid down about a 30 cm sprig of what we call Wandering Jew in the grow bed a couple of weeks later it had rooted and was taking off like crazy. Since I had problems with lack of sunlight in that bed anyway I let it grow and grow and grow.... Now it has literally taken over the bed along with the passion fruit. It is hanging over the bed and shading the fish and what can I say it is literally taking over!

my goodness DT!

You could also try some Basella rubra or B. alba, they should do well in your neck of the woods. Ceylon spinach
