I'm of the opinion that it's still too warm for the little fellas, OBO's are doing alright in the buried ibc's but similar to mine in the above ground tank.
I'm really just guessing atm, time will tell

Water temp is sitting around 19-20's during the day, right now it's 17degC (06:17).
I'm not getting enough cold days in a row to drop the temps, it will come though when we have 2degC nights and the occasional frost so sooner the better.

OBO,I think your comments about water flow must be correct.

This morning I had a few kills, the SP's were looking sad so I have taken the remaining ones around to OBO's and placed them with his.
I changed the water return pipe to the main tank with a 25mm length across the tank and drilled holes to angle the return water and make the tank water swirl, when the sump switched on for the first time the trout all lined up to swim against the current, with the nft return also going to the sump the sump pump now switches on every 10-15min and the tank water is still moving (although slowly) when this happens. Hopefully happier trout, time will tell.

So now your killing my fish

Can't believe how the trout have picked up since the change.

Lessons learnt
1) Don't over stock
2) Trout love flowing water (especially swirling the tank water)
3) Keep the system & surrounds clean (I spent two hours today cleaning up crap)

I will stick to adding more GB's instead of the nft's for the moment and go from there.

I am interested to see how the trout react to being salted.

I dont think you were actually overstocked (well compared to C1), its more a water circulation issue.
