I *always* edit my posts: clarity, spelling, misc: somehow all these errors slip in after I hit the post button! Ten minutes of editing would be wonderful: I can live without it, but it does reduce my likelihood of posting if I know it is immediately written in stone.

What the heck, it's all good!

Well, I hope you will be able to patch the posts that need rectifying so they will be readable once again. It seems like a lot of people are like what I was in the beginning and log on as guests to read everything. It would be a shame if they read something, became confused and dropped reading the forum because they couldn't understand it.

damn, no more getting drunk and posting. a few people here will be in trouble.

problem is people will struggle to read my posts. takes me a good 2-3 edits most times.

as for spelling it shouldn't be too bad with firefox. explorer is crap anyhow.

only problem is it doesn't pick up on grammar. how lazy can i expect to be though? :D

Over the past year and a half that I've been a member here, I have seen a lot of good knowledge lost from the board because someone got miffed and deleted or removed the content of their posts. And I'm talking here about people intentionally removing large quantities of posts, not folks who posted something a little inflammatory and then thought better of it. I can name 3-4 people that have wantonly destroyed threads. It's childish at best, and can completely destroy the usefulness of a thread that they participated heavily in. Since the forum doesn't have the archiving capability that a Wiki does, that knowledge is generally gone for good. Call me selfish, but I want to preserve the information we have in a field that we are all pioneering.

Hmmm...maybe if we all work to put stuff in the Wiki, would could preserve and organize the knowledge, and prevent people with anger management issues from destroying stuff.

i don't know who your referring to janet but if its true (which i don't doubt) then what a bunch of *sigh* they are. fairly obvious why they joined the forum in the first place. certainly not for the love of AP or the cause. otherwise the info would be left for others to access. its pretty frustrating that as always the few who abuse the privilege make the rest of us suffer.

Its a damn shame.. I often follow several thoughts at a time and cut and paste until all my thoughts are in order then after hitting submit, or the next day I read what I wrote and realize I did not clearly type what I meant to covey.. Oh well.. The wiki will be a big help IF everyone adds the best of their knowledge to it. I do hope, in the wiki, others will correct my spelling (as firefox is not spell correcting in the wiki) as well as my grammer and even help make what I type more clear; as well as deleting or correcting stupid things I way...

One of the other forums I get on is driven (mad) by typekey.
Most users write their posts in an editor and cut 'n paste the comments in.
A pain, but it does help if you have spell-check and grammar turned on.

I would suggest a little sensitivity in responses to those who obviously have certain strong beliefs would not go astray.

Sigh, I guess that explains the missing edit button.

I do hope that a compromise is found. (as in being able to edit until another post shows up or a time limit to edit a post.) Good Luck with that EB!

I guess until then, I will keep doing extra posts to add/clarify stuff I left out of the first post. That is usually what happens to me, I intend to put up 3 pictures but after the first one I accidently hit submit instead of add the file. Then I go to edit to add the other two photos and realize the edit button isn't there so I need to add another post.

Alternatives for the speling/gramar challenged (like me):
1) Use preview button before submit and re-read
2) Use Firefox and it will underline spelling errors as you type MS Word style. There is an Aus dictionary plug-in for those who want to see "colour" spelt right :P

another 2c worth...
What about enabling the edit just on members systems?
They're always ongoing and it would make it easier for newbies to see good info without going down the rabbit hole of a long thread.
