wow ruperto, you have really done a lot of reasearch for me, thank you!

although i have some knowledge of trout from my father's friend who grows trouts, but he uses a local cold stream to freshen and cool his system, and cleaning every 6 months or so.

now food&fish gave me some courage in trouts again, since he said he had problems with trout at 28°C, 25 was just fine

i've also seen a lot of fish growers throughout slovenia, we have quite a history in aquaculture yes, i've seen remains of fish growing utilities when i was a little boy, climbing through our local streams.

i think i'm gonna give it a go, as long as i'm confident everything goes towards success :)

i've already ordered 50 trouts at 4 cm size, gonna get them in the middle of may! there's more problem in locating tilapia and warmwater fish here, seen quite a few pages offering a few coldwater species.

i cooked with my first AP chilli! first i tried to bite in and it wasn't hot, then i tried again and i burned my mouth

the chilli was as tastefull and as hot as it was from my soil pot chilli plant last year, and this was grown under 54W of fluoros, not sun

so far so good

hello everybody!

i went to visit my trout man Hinko, and he gave me about 50-80 trout, for free, he didn't want the money, he just wants to see how my sys. works :D

he has beautiful trouts, really beautiful, he has two springs flowing hard into his fish farm, the water is pure as it can be, EC was like 0.2 and pH 7, almost rainwater and coooold(11°C), but his trout are the best i've ever tasted!
the transportation was no problem, i've drived them in 20L of water with a 50 L/h water pump in it, no losses
anyway, he's a very nice man, wish i'll be able to repay him somehow(have an idea hehe :)
here's the photo shoot, i think the tomatoes have grown a little bit and i've also added a plant called Pulmonaria officinalis, which shows the pH scale on her flowers, coloring them from blue to red according to the soil's pH---> wating for her to re-bloom as i've ripped her directly out of the forrest:)

File comment: the trout are sooo cute, really and so friendly, i just put my finger in the water and they come to check it
i had a spotlight on them and they gathered quickly:)

i also added some NH4(50 ml in two days) to bring the ph to a more plant-friendly value and gave the sys. some nitrogen that is needed to start cycling

have a good day and let's hope my trout do fine in my warmer water, no losses so far

File comment: the first bucket planted, and the only one for now, will wait for the tomatoes to start growing, then i'll add more plants

What sort of trout are they Molj..... and thank your trout man for his generosity on behalf of all APer's.....

Get your system going and growing and then show him.... reckon he'll become an instant convert.....

Keep a close eye on your water tests.... and don't feed or at least don't over feed your trout until your systems well and truely cycled....

Post your test results here daily.... everyone will gladly guide you... :D

Awesome fish! Very beautiful, and I love the taste of trout. I don't think I could keep the water in my set-up cool enough for them, though.
