You planning on filling the growbed with concrete lol, looks like a skyscraper support :D

i am using 5mm blue metal, so almost concrete, the temporary gb i set up is sagging between the beams, and the sides are deforming. I took /KP's advice and over engineered it

Very impressive DP, great to see some1 building things to last. I assume you have access to scrap steel? I couldn't afford to do that for all my GB... but then maybe I'm not looking at it from the right angle.

I'm still going on fabrication the gb frames.
I have got both top loops on and am now working on the 50mm x 50mm weld mesh cladding up the sides of the gb's. Its getting confusing as i have never built anything out of steel this big or complicated. All my mistakes are comming back to haunt me. The corner that is not quite square is causing major headaches. Its only out by a few degrees, but it is making the cladding not line up quite right

That is a beautiful system, Duckpond.
I'm very sorry about your fish.

I can't wait to see the finished product! I'm so jealous of those of you who can do this outside...

almost there on the fabrication. vsome progress pics:

Image

the top rails of the frames done, and the wed mesh cladding almost done

Image

the weld mesh cladding down the sides. this is for vines to grow on

Image

the corners were tricky as the sides taper inwards, and the cornersare 45degree bends. i had to adjust the length of the weld mesh squares to get them to fit right

Image

a grow bed in the frame

Image

the cladding and the growbed

Image

these pegs at each end of the grow bed are mountings for weld mesh trellisses down the center of each grow bed.

from here i need to finish the cladding and pegs, make the trellis. Then prime and paint.

Wow indeed..
DP, you obviously have shares in BHP steel and a couple of welding supplies companies. :compress:
I am very impressed with your design work which is straight out of the manual from KPU
(KP University of Engineering) 8)
I am really jealous of your skills 'cause i can't weld for nuts...that's why I went for kidney shaped GB's

I think you may well have some copy-right problems ,, I've seen your system before in MAD MAX movies :) Are you going to add wheels and motor?

Wow ,, sure looks like it built to last a lifetime.

Ever thought of traveling to Thailand to help a fellow AP'er build a 2,000 square meter system?????

Well Jana, you might be waiting a little while, on that basis I'd say you'd be looking at around October! :o

Hey DP - Nice meeting you at Brendo's last night. Your GB frames are looking awesome, doesn't look like you'll ever have to worry about them, they sure are built to last. Pitty about your fish hey, but it's all a big learning curve... Will be watching your thread with interest to see how it all turns out.

Cheers,
James
