Hey, thanks Don.... that's easier to use quickly than the single chart and calculations I've been using.

No worries if your pH is 6.4!

Neat Don :thumbright:

Now all we need is someone with Excel knowledge to put it in a spreadsheet.

Always pays to remember though that at low pH NitrIte is really dangerous.

There is also this rather old discussion from the krib
http://www.thekrib.com/Chemistry/ammonia-toxicity.html

And this calculator program
http://cobweb.ecn.purdue.edu/~piwc/w3-r ... a/nh3.html
for those people who don't like using tables.

And for a bit of a read on the best thing about understanding ammonia
http://www.tropicalfishcentre.co.uk/Fishlesscycle.htm
heres a link on fishless cycling :)
The safe level of ammonia in a system containing fish is 0ppm
:D

OK... just for the really lazy people.....

http://www.aquanic.org/images/tools/ammonia.htm

And I'll scan it later and post it... maybe even put it into a spreadsheet ....an all in one sheet, but you then have to calculate by applying a constant value and division process to your readings...

You mean really Sleepe people Rupe?

Seen that one, just can't always trust links to be there when you need them. Anyway it would be a good idea to have an equivalent of Convert for all the calculatable variables in an Ap system.

You'll find lots of useful spreadsheet conversions on this link... might have to scroll..... open the ones you want and then save them.....

Or use the ones that "Don the Fish Feeder" has posted in various threads/posts .....

Maybe we should get the mods to group them all together into a "helpful utilites" thread

Quick quizz....

Take a box the size of one of the ones in the photo..... put a dozen yabbies in it and transport them in a car for 4 hrs.....

Get home....fill it 3/4 full... add a battery powered aerator.... don't feed........

What do you think the Ammonia reading might be after 24hrs???

An important reminder to all......

(1) Don't think that yabbies or even small fish don't produce ammonia....

(2)Don't think that just because you're not feeding them... they wont produce ammonia...

(3) Make sure that you're ready for your fish or yabbies before you get them...

It's all good..... was keeping a close eye on things.... 50% water change and things are fine....

Got distracted with a couple of emergency jobs, phone calls, mail, banking etc.... forgot it got dark early these days..... :D
