Steve - California is resource rich, which is why everyone comes here. I suppose it comes at a price. While we can't ride two stroke dirt bikes or keep Tilapia, we can ride two stroke dirt bikes and keep Tilapia *kittens* what I mean. I know it's getting harder and harder, but we keep geting smarter and smarter i suppose, while the dumb get dumber. Every day I see monster SUV's with "support our troops" stickers plastered all over them, being driven solo to work despite higher oil prices, higher pollution levels, and continued boys dying overseas for thier right to drive the SUV and set thier harvested rice field ablaze and pollute as much in one day as Sweden (of equal size) does in a whole month. It's getting crowded here and the pressure is building. Meanwhile guys like us suck it up and forfiet more and more choices and freedoms for.....what? So our kids can go die in Iraq or compete in a labor market full of migrant labor from Mexico?

Rated R Quote from Platoon - "Man the poor always gettin' f'd over by the rich. Always have, always will. All you got to do is keep your pecker hard and your powder dry and make it out of here. Nothing but gravy the rest of your life. "

Sorry I segued too...haha

Segue any time, I love the company.

Aeon, you'll do fine. We have 7 children of our own, and I also am a labour coach for the ladies that have babies here. With your love for aquaponics, there will be such fun as the little one grows and learns with you. I have 2 of my children that are learning with me, 2 have grown up and left, so the other 3 still at home get alittle involved.

Mike, I have many friends at the Florida Wild Life division, and have talked to them about the Tiliapia and they have not said that they are illegal here. I have also read Mike Saps site and have been to Morning Star ministries, where I took a cource on raising Tiliapia, so I think that the ground was already laid for Tiliapia here.

They are now exhibiting sexual dimorophism characteristics ..

The male is looking very showy and is very busy rounding up the females ....

At home I have this happening on a larger scale ...

Will post a video as soon as I can ...

Any West Aussies have red or pink versions of thse fish ... (or plain version) please let me know ....

Joyce - they are definately legal in FL. In fact FL is the tilapia capitol for the USA since they flourish in your climate. Here in California, we are afraid of any unindigenous species to the point of extreme. Yet, rice, a completely foriegn crop that wouldn't survive one winter is allowed to be commercially developed to the point of environmental detriment.

Tilapia are making thier way into the aquarium fish trade more and more, so I expect some attention will be paid (good or bad) to the increased exposure of California to Tilapia.

It is also a good way to get spyware, play at your own risk. They don't call them popup games for nothing.

The siphon videos are coming my friend ...

I am only just getting the hang of this video lark!

My PC crashed and I lost a whole load of stuff.. having to rebuild bigtime regards my other hobby.

I am on holidays soon .. so watch this space for the siphon video!

Hee Hee!

Tilapia are sooo Uglee ... but IMHO one of the most interesting fish on the planet!

I would just LOOVE to get hold of some pink and red muations if anyone in Western Australia has any ...

Apparently pinks an reds are common in USA.\

In the meantime ...

a video of fish donated to the high school where I teach ...

(Thanks to members of the Perth Cichlid Society!)
