Were trying to find info on the F/W mussels feeding habits through the year but drew blanks
Do they slow down as the water temp gets colder, by how much, or not affected?

Any ideas?

Came across a (rather long) video at http://www.karipearls.com/freshwater-mussels.html

Can anyone tell me the species name of the mussels supplied by Aquablue?
Also, does anyone have an idea on how many are needed to control algae in your average size AP system?
I reckon if you could get them cheap (at a small size) and grow them, they'd be an excellent fish food.

Outback would love heaps more as plenty want them, but a mate wants a hundred for his dam, have another wanting possibly 50 and a couple of other WA guys in forum are asking about them, so maybe PM me with numbers and we can share freight, Aquablue hasn't anymore til June, so if I get order in soon we should secure some, I know Steve and Rupert and afew eastern boys are chasing as well, so might have to beat them to it

Nocky ,, US eatern boys are faster than your average wabbit ,, already on order:)

Don't worry there is plenty of stock , it's more a harvesting issue than a stock issue from what I understand.

You guys need that many FWM's ,, I know a guy that rents out a freighter 707 ,, how many tons?

We could even organise an air -drop over Kalgoolie.

Our eastern order went in just before yours ,, no phone call , but an actual human interaction and agreement:) Smiling mate ,, there's nothing like being " on the ground".

707 going west with FWM's and returning east with some of those nice tanks and grow beds,,hmmmmmmmmm

i have been informed that they are plentiful in the fitzroy river around rockhampton. I had 6 in a bath for 3 years they grew to about 120mm accross. I talked to a local indigenous person and they told me they very rarely ate them as they were chewy and tasted like sh@t, unquote. Next time im down that way ill have a look for some.
