Gnash, is your nft an addition after your growbeds? ie does wate go thru the gb's first? Also, have you done any solids filtration prior to the nft, and if not, what do the roots look like (and don't say any root looks alright  ) finally, any idea of flow rates thru the channel? Cheers

Stu ps best of luck to you and OBO with your outback trout

Mon,
The nft has a seperate pump running 24hrs straight from the tank, the flow rate is as fast as the pump will go. The float pump in the sump turns on approx every 15mins and takes away about 90-100 liters of water so 400L an hour (mabey)
I dont have filtration for it as such but the pump sits about 50mm from the bottom and dosen't pick up solids. (I manually do this with the old fish tank filter next to the frog)
The roots are looking good, I will take a couple of pics tonight and post tomorrow as my home computer is virused

Nothing mate I just let the water flow at a fast rate to try and stop root rot.
The plants are held in place with lettuce cups and rockwool.

The first one i built had pea gravel in it but in the end i had to cut the plants out with a grinder as the tomatos became stuck.

Wondered how you guys planned on getting the trout back alive but didn't think to ask. Good going.
My set-up is going better since I took the sides of the Taj. Have new leaves on those beans you gave me. Thanks. :)
Did 'harmless' like his feed of trout?

Not much happening atm, the fish are swimming and veggies growing.

I've put the second tank in the shed over the weekend and I'm waiting for my ute (still) to get back so I can go get some bath tubs and more pvc pipe to build more beds for the tank.
I found one dead trout yesterday and it looked like it had been attacked by the others :?: but the rest are fine.

More food for the trout Gnash - angry little baskets when they are hungry.

Finally have my home puter up and running

Trout are still going well and so are the SP's, I'm itching to build another set of GB's though as the current ones are not keeping up with the load.
The water is starting to get a slight smell but nothing to bad as yet so its off to find either more blue barrels or bathtubs this weekend.
