My GF was designing a mosaic of a basic aquaponic system on the weekend..... :)

I have the enviable position of claiming that everything to do with aquaponics is "work", money must be spent on research and development, and I must admit that I've even stretched it to the point of claiming this discussion board as work too.... :D

My wife thinks it's very interesting. She calls me the "mad scientist." She likes the vegetables...

My wife points out that I married her under false pretences. When we married I was a champion martial artist with a stomach like a washboard. She hardly even noticed that I was also a nerdy computer programmer.

Now the stomach is more commensurate with my nerdy tendencies and I spend all my time tinkering with fish, changing systems and measuring results....

However, she puts up with me. To to quote her:
"Nerds are good. The description 'Strong Silent Type' just means that the guy is inarticulate but hits hard. 'Tall, dark and handsome' just means the guy is up himself and too busy checking the mirror to crack a smile. Nerds are cute and funny, and they are more into debate and optimization than conflict and violence. "

My litmus test for being a non-reversable nerd?

If you can happily sit and watch the monitor while your computer performs a defrag.

I passed the test (albeit win98 was a little more interesting to watch)

What games do you play Donarto...? I play heaps, counter strike, unreal tournament, battle for middle earth, command and conquer, battlefield 2, to name a few... Far cry is one of my all time faves, just wish they had a decent multiplayer with bots mode...

haha great to hear you are a gamer Joel. I play Counter Strike (Source), unreal tournament, i've played Battle for Middle Earth, All the command and conquers :D but currently: zero hour, haven't played battlefield 2 yet, Dungeons and Dragons Online (like World of Warcraft but for DnD nerds :D), and with a couple of mates I am in the process of making our first game (an RTS), but that won't be ready for a while yet.

Mostly I play Couter-Striek Source online and like such mods as Gun Game Mod and Zombie Horde and I also play Dungeons and Dragons Online pretty frequently.

Do you play CSS online Joel?

ONLINE GAMERS!! woohoo!
I only play guild wars online... I have 2 characters which I am building up...
I remember Ad&d (Advanced dungeons and dragons - used to play it for real (no computers involved) way back in high school and as a student... have not looked at it since)

Between working on my system, and chatting on here I only get to game online about 3 days of the week - the missus hates my games - I tried the "its this or porn" line but it did not go down well :blackeye: :tard:
I find the game more interesting anyway right now as I get to kill things (let off steam)!!!!

Further converastion about online gameing here please: http://backyardaquaponics.com/forum/vie ... highlight=
