Got a BIG net and wen't fishing the other day. The fish are in SUPERB health, but have not grown much......maybe doubled in size. nothing compared to the monsters inside!

But that is to be expected, they have not been kept at optimum temp, and i feed very sparingly.

The last two days have been 24C and 30C respectivly and now have a tank temp of 20C with no heating, i'm expecting to see some progress soon. And the plants have noticable growth every day when i come home :)

I'm just splashing around with a net in the 200L aquarium, removing the silver perch and the largest jade, they are causing too much stress in the tank. I thought catching small fish was hard, man they aren't even THAT big, but they put up a hell of a fight!

Funny to see them go "limp" when you finnaly take them out of the water :)

An update for you all. my EM pump just shite itself. I've been so lucky having been around when it happened, BOTH times.

I've decided to retire it. I found a sapre in the shed the other day. fair bit smaller, but have it connected directly to the 3 air stones on the tank, and it sems to be flowing almost as much, the old one went through a maze of manifolds and pipes before it got to the tank. and it quiet in here.........quite weird actually

Oh, buy the way i mewntined something earlier about the jade perch changing colour..........it is incredible, they are usually a dark grey green colour, but when threatened they pale. When the pump started struggling and spluttering and then was off for about 2 min my GF said "whats happened to your fish?" I kid you not, they where WHITE!!!!!!!!!!

Since typing this thye have darkened to about 50% of thier colour. they are an incredible fish to have. GF just started topping up water and they have gone white again! must be on edge from the trauma of me trying to catch 3 of them earler.

cool fish :)

Keep it in the other topic AM!

When the jades pay half the mortgage then they can have a vote :)

I'm still running the air pump thru the UPS, cheap insurance, and there seems to be about 10% diff in output when under backup power. less diff than the other tired old pump.
