Ok. latest water tests.. Is there a reason my nitrite is almost 0? Im assuming its all being turned into Nitrates...

Old test from 1 week ago

Ammonia: 0.25 down from 0.50
Nitrites:0.50 Increased Up fro 0
Nitrates: 20ish Increase from 10

This test...

Ammonia: 0.25 Holding steady
Nitrites: Almost 0 ... down from 0.50
Nitrates: 40ish Increase from 20 ish

PH: around 7

Ammonia good
Nitrite good - mine fluctuates up to 0.25 but not a real concern
Nitrates good - mine sits between 150-300 and the fish are quite comfortable with that
pH good

Looks like it might be cycled now - so when are you gonna add some more fish...we need :rr: in HSM  mode

More piccies...

Now.. this is what we all fear when we go and take a look in out tank.. I LOST 2 FISH!!! Whatthe...

I took them out, and 1 looked really pale and had been hammered.. see all the cut like marks on him...

The other had his Gill half eaten away... I actually had to put him out of his misery...

I had 1 redclaw in the tank, and im assuming hes the culpret... so just to make sure and take 1 variable out of the equations... see pictures!

File comment: On closer examination, 1 was really pale and cut marks are all over him.. the other has 1/2 his left gill eaten away.. I was hoping it was eaten and not rot or id be looking at a larger problem...

looks like it could be scrape marks from the redclaw, that'll teach him ;)

a hint for taking pictures in an open tank, hold an umbrella over the water to reduce the glare :D

so how many fish left now?

I believe it leaves me with 10 fish... enough i think for a 1000ltr system... as they are all huge.. u seen the size, about 30cm long each... 700g each. So thats almost 1kg fish per 100 ltrs of water...

Next time, ill get fingerlings, and ask for 30 probably... with losses id hope to have arounf 20 grow larger.. these i had to buy large.. $105 - for 17 of them!
