Ahh but Faye, Joel seeded your system with some bacteria from one of his systems if my memory serves me correctly.
White dog, I can give you some gravel or hydroton that is colonised by bacteria if you want to swap it with some of yours (washed of course), that should get you on your way.

We might be able to help with the cappucinos we have a little machine that goes to the block and access to freshly roasted beans. 5 Senses local to Rockingham.

Should we bring in a brew on Saturday?

All going beautifully thanks Faye.

Plants are growing slowly but happily. I also threw a bunch of old seeds in and they have sprouted. Although, I am sure I washed a few seeds into the tank getting the GB fill level right  Also waiting on a postal order of seeds from Diggers.

Goldfish also look happy (if a goldfish can look happy that is). Hopefully getting some 'real' fish on the weekend.

I replaced my 1000L/hr pump with a bigger one (an 8000L/hr dirty water pump). The smaller one wasn't filling the GB on a 1/2hr on 1/2 off cycle. And, it was a good excuse to buy a new pump.

Messing around with the pumps, fill levels etc.. is great fun isn't it!

Glad to hear that all is well, and it sure is great fun. Of course goldfish can look happy, its because they know that you love them and they kinda know they aren't going to be eaten, lucky fish!

Know what you mean ! I'm lucky that my daughter likes hanging around the GB and fish tank (climbing over it) and playing around while I muck around and/or watch the fish. My partner comes out and keeps asking what we're doing out there 'again' hee hee

Well I now have my first 'real' fish. 4 big beautiful silver perches, about 15-20 cm big. I wanted littlies but the place I went to didn't have any. They won't grow much over winter but they are fun to watch. Will post pics when I get around to it. The goldfish weren't too impressed at first but now they all seem to be ignoring each other. Not sure how I am actually going to go about eating these guys though (the perch not the goldfish) - we'll be giving them pet names soon!

25 trout (little ones this time) arriving on Friday!

My PH has been at 8 for a while now (everything else is 0), I have tried lemon juice and it didn't seem to do much. Although I didn't add too much. I am currently slowly adding coco peat to see it that makes a difference.
