Was it you or Charlie Little or someone else (BF??) who posted info about vitamin C being added to water that leaves water treatment plants?

There is a recent thread around here about it. From what I read after that, sodium ascorbate is an excellent dechlorinator and it does not have a low pH like straight ascorbic acid; I was planning on buying some from a health supplement place (they have big jars of it) and using it instead of the pet store dechlorinator (that says it's not for use with food fish).

I remember seeing thread about using ascorbic acid (vitiman c) to dechlorinate water.

I have seen vitamin C mentioned in another thread in a recipe by Don the fish feeder.
Why the emphasis on vitamin C? There are so many vitamins, why does everybody talk about the C?

I know that vitamin C works great for neutralizing Iodine When having to treat water for drinking while camping!

Vitamin C is often used in fish foods for the proper development of the scales. Something to do with the protective slime layer. It is also believed to help
improve/enhance fish colouration. Apparently vitamin C also helps to break down fats/oils. So indirectly it helps to improve water quality too.

Quick question on the store-bought dechlorinator. This is what I use for my water, but I only have goldies that I'm not really planning on eating. Have others used this on fish they have eaten, and if so, any ill effects?

Don't forget that any chemicals that go into the water not only affect the fish but can accumulate over time into your vegetables. Either directly or indirectly the chemicals will eventually be taken up and stored in the leaves or fruit.

Will a little lime juice do? Blended into the feed in small amounts?
(small amounts, not to affect ph much).

OK , I'll stop being a pain and start the thread ,, gee it's hard being so popular ..... can Vitamin C be extracted from Whales ???? AHH JOKING.
