That many bugs on one leaf leads me to believe they are feeding on the plant. See how they are positioned on a vein? Sucking up plant juices I'd bet. Predators would be alone for the most part searching for snackies. These things aint got no fast food delivery, so they are either eating or searching for food. Just my thoughts. Squish em.
Great pictures!

I always err on the side of caution unless I'm 100% confident they're a beneficial bug :P The ducks solved the problem for me about 10 seconds after the photo's were taken ;)

The second set of pictures.... while they look a bit like assasine bugs... still look like more aphids to me.

Hey you're right! :P The first lot got a 24 hour reprieve until positively identified at the accursed aphid! Then it was straight to the ducks :P I just don't want to kill anything beneficial!

I think I'll order some ladybugs soon, they should stick around, unless they learn how to operate zips that is :P

Well... apparently they're just another aphid species :P I'm told the dual bum spurs give them away!

i mix tabasco sauce or any other cheaper chilli sauce into a spray bottle and spray allmy plants, it repels the sap suckers except maxican ones, they love it

I wonder if I am allowed to send you some of our ladybird, eggs, larvae or adults? They would survie in a chinese takeaway food container for a couple of days.

hehe! I've really been considering getting some lady bugs :) There's some little spiders that have colonised the system here and there, but they're not doing enough damage to the population. Lady bugs are the way to go for sure :)
