What's with the seed?

So how tough was it butchering the birds? and how did you go about it did you skin them out or scald and pluck them?

How old were your birds when you butchered them?

I've been butchering between 25 and 90 for the last 3-4 years most are cornish crosses my girls raise for 4-h and show each winter but year before last I had 60 that were different breeds mostly wyandottes and a few barred rocks. Also raised and butchered 20 turkeys a year ago....won't ever do that again

My girls finally graduated to showing goats so I might finally clear the freezer of chooks and turkeys in about a year

I need to butcher my hens. They are eating their eggs so they are now useless. To bad I dont know how..

you don't need to butcher them Dan, have you put some mustard eggs in the nest instead? (blow a couple of eggs out and fill them with HOT mustard) they stop eating eggs after that

it's worked with our birds. hot english is good, or horseradish. Won't kill them, but burnies!

Bleah! Some good Chinese mustard would do the job quick, then.

Is it possible for someone to collect the eggs quicker?
My birds will eat the eggs if they sit too long but usually thats not a problem.
May have to try the mustard bomb on them some time.
