Well freight obviously isn't included, but am getting price to WA, Star Track generally charge a minimum of $14 roughly and charge $2 per Kilo, this is our work rate anyhow

What I found was freight can be as much as $40, but depending on how many, but he can do small pack to here in WA for around $20, I have ordered 25,
Call Neil at Aqua Blue and tell him Paul From Narrogin in WA gave you you his number and I may get some brownie points, PH: (02) 4997 9191 he was quite helpful and passed on info about breeding ETC and also quoted freight for me

Just a little heads up NOT TO EAT MUSSELS FROM POLLUTED CREEKS!

P!

Don read about them here http://www.aquablueseafoods.com.au/other-mussels.shtml, they are not from a creek but from a hatchery, these particular breed live in still water, there are around 50 different species of freshwater mussels, Neil at aqua blue recommends 20 for a tank of my size, 1.8mt x .8mt, but I know of one other person in my area who has a WA species in his tank, (from the Blackwood River) he has Perch in a 3mt tank and around 100 mussels, he doesn't run any other filtration, but the Blackwood Mussels are not good eating, after talking to Neil I would recommend trying them, or wait until mine arrive and I will post updates, but can't see why they wouldn't work, and am hanging out for Chilli Mussels, hopefully chillies will be grown from my perch set up, and a couple of marron on the side
Am getting mine freighted with my work account on Star Track Express, my rate is $12.85 standard charge and $1.89 a kilo, neil suggests 20 is 1.5kg, so freight not bad to WA, but we have a high volume of freight come through work so we get a good price

i have to agree, whenever i hear of mussels or reeds being used to remediate water i sigh.

YES, they do................but if they are pulling heavy metals an other long lived substances out of the water, what do you do with the FILTERS after?

i think that ANY website that states both remediation and eating of mussels in the same page SHOULD have a warning............

More on these, Neil said he hasn't eaten one but a mate who has said a bit chewy, Neil also said they are best just as a filter and do a fantastic job, they take about 3 years to get to the size he sells, so maybe no chilli mussels, but good filter, am looking at a deal with supplier for WA, but maybe EB should look into it for over this way

I'm going to go technical for a bit ;)

Those mussels pictured are Alathyria sp. There are about four species found in Australia, A. jacksoni (NSW, Vic) A. pertexta (Qld), A. profuga (coastal NSW) and A. condola (Northern Vic)

They vary in size from 80 - 150mm.
