So I really am curious, what's wrong with these O2 test kits? I've read people on here say that testing for O2 was expensive.. these kits are pretty cheap.

the expense people talk of is for digital meters................i guess liquid test can be of some use, but O2 is SO variable at different points of the system and at different times of the day that a digital meter would be more practical...........

mrgrackletx,,I see notyhing wrong with those O2 test kits. Agree with steve that a meter is more usefull for me as I want to do a large number of tests over a period of time , whilst tinkering with my return flow paddle wheel aerator.
I was thinking last night,,after I purchase a meter and get the results, then I wouldn't need it that often .....,so perhaps the meter could be shared around ,,a NOT for profit rent a O2 meter.
It could just travel around amongst us APer's on a needs basis inside a post-pack.
Anyway,it will probably be a while until Iget a meter , sointhe mean time I'llgrab some of those liquid test kits.
Cheers

Due to the high cost in energy most outdoors fish keeping systems do not have chillers to reduce the temperature of the water. Because of this heated tanks can have oxygen level problems.
What do people think about building a sand 'moat' around a system and using this process

to just add water to cool it?
