Such as Chappo? .... there's a thread somewhere concerning "companion" planting.... would be great to know what works effectively... or even helps.

Hey Scottt,

That Bok Choy looks as good as mine! :)

I had an aphid problem too - not as bad as yours. I agree with Chappo though, plant some flowers to attract some aphid predators.

I bought some "Good Bug Mix" seeds from Green Harvest & threw a few in my GBs.

I think's it's more of a preventative measure than a cure though, so I'm not sure you can save your current plants.

If they're not affecting other crops, I wouldn't pull them out ... let more predators come & munch - maybe a few will stay to protect your next crop. The eco-system should stabilise itself eventually. ie. more aphids means you are more likely to attract Lady Bugs etc. Let nature do it's thing.

thanks Scottie, I'll get some "good bug mix" for the long term.
I'd love to see some good bugs in my garden.
Unfortunately I live in suburban Adelaide. Don't think I have seen a ladybird in the 7 years I have lived here.
Might have to grab some next time I'm out bush

Scott, I live in Sydney , with those good flowers around I've been getting a lotof the good bugs like lady beetles and hover fly's.It's amazinghow they'll arrive when they know they'll geta feed.

A bit "off topic" but did anyoneelse notice a general lack of bee's this year? I usually get quite a lot but saw near none for the last 3-4 months ( that's a big worry)

Funny, I have plenty of bees, but no ladybirds.
I guess it depends on the flora in the immediate vicinity.

we have a bit of black scale on our olive trees, and as we don't spray them, it seems to have allowed a bit of a natural populastion of good bugs to start up. We are noticing a lot of ladybugs lately, didn't know they were into scale, but maybe they are, or maybe they are after something that is munching the leaves.

if you wanted to do an experiment I'd be curious to know if it would make a differance if your venturi tube tied in where the pipe expands back to regular size rather than in the smaller portion. My way of thinking is the best place for it would be going in just down stream from the last point of the smaller pipe.

My system is not running yet, but I intend to try and see for my self when it is, but more results provide better data.

Just thinking out loud.

Later,
Steve

Clovis,
My PVC adapters are far from a theoretically perfect venturi
I just put them together using trail and error, with what appears to work with my flow rates.
Have a play. !

Setting myself up for a HSM
The weather has cooled in Adelaide and we finally got a bit of rain :D

My 50 small SP fingerling's have now slowed a bit.

Today, I decided to get some Trout to see my plants through winter.

Thought I might get about twenty, but in a moment of madness, I ended up with fifty , 7 inch trout.

Half in the AP system and half in spare tanks. This really is more than my setup will handle,

Anyone in Adelaide after a few trout?

Hey Scottt

I reckon Steem would be up for some. PM him and see, then I suppose I could pick them up from your place next week if he wants me to.

Our silvers have definately slowed down in the past 48 hours. Tis getting very cold here overnight.
