David correct me if I'm wrong. Your going to continue using the chips, after your fish showed so much dislike for it?
How long have you been using them in your system with fish and all?
I'm wondering if it was a slow or fast process for the leaching to occur.

ok, the fish (5x silvers) were in the tank and the tray above was full of plants (the tray contains clay balls), and life was good.
Mean while David (that would be me), was trialling a new system, using a separate tank containing pine chips.
Then crash / bang, the son tips top tray into tank, plants and clayballs are now in with the fish.
David now has little choice but to go with fate and switch over to the new and as yet untested system about 2 weeks early.
For a while every thing is looking good, but the water is getting darker in colour and the fish begin to swim vertical (not golping for air), just swimming in a none up right posission.
Im the one getting stressted, after moving all the plants to the pine chips, I now have no recourse but to put the silvers in with the cod and hope they dont eat each other.
im now flushing the pine with water from the empty tank and will do so untill the colour dissapears, then I think Ill try Marron in the tank.

The End

P.S The cod and silvers have moved in together and are doing fine.......wounder what kind of babies I'll get?
