To put this into some sort of perspective you would need 70 MILLION banknotes like this one to pay for a toasted cheese and tomato sandwich.

The exchange rate takes care of part of that but WOW!!!

Toasted cheese & tomato sandwich = 200,000,000.00 (Zimbabwe)
US conversion (1 US$ = 30,634 Z$) = $6,528
AUS conversion (1 AUS$ = 28,396 Z$) = $7,043

What can you get for $2
I think I've got a few coins from a holiday there 10 years ago, I was saving them in case I ever make it back there.

I don't expect that there would be any trade in american to Zimbabwe money. Nobody would be that stupid.

Suspect there may be an unnofficial exchange rate bearing no resemblance to the official figures.
Probably lots better with the coin KE at least they have weight/metal value.

Sadly it happens more often than you might think.....

How'd you like to carry 500 billion dinara's around in your wallet (1993)....

Or maybe have to use a wheelbarrow to go down to the shops for a loaf of bread? (1930)

Consider the following formula...

"A monetary expansion of 4.5 percent, combined with a productivity increase of 0.5 percent and a growth rate of 2 percent, will suffice to attain the inflation target of 2 percent."

Not sure where the quote comes from.... but if we take it at face value and consider the "monetary expansion" fueled by the issuance of credit cards and resulting monetary debt..... as I've mentioned before in the "venting" thread.....

And consider the increases of "productivity" in Australia's economy over the past decade.... then it really is no wonder that the annual inflation rate is running around 4%......

The banks print the fake plastic money, the reserve bank tries to get it back from us as real money.... to control the inflation caused by the banks in the first place....

Rupert,
Have you heard of Dr. Albert Bartlett?
Google his talk on the exponential function.
Farking eye-opening!

Just finished watching the videos.. Ummmm.... OH $#IT! What more can I say?

Looks like in our generation commercial aquaculture will come to and end if it keeps using oil. AP may be the only source of nutrients other then compost. So where does that leave us with additives? I mean where will we get trace nutrients in a energy starved world?

This also makes me think MUCH more seriously about where the energy for my AP system comes from! (not to mention how our entire economy and way of life required economic growth to keep from falling apart)...

Sadly, there could be an abundance of "blood and bone" :(
