I'm seriously thinking of picking up a couple of those troughs, and i've convinced a mate to set up a system, so we'll get 4 and hope for a discount :)

Funny you should say thaty Steve, I am putting aside some quality time tomorrow to check out Polyworld up here - round water troughs and long trench feeder troughs (for my next system), so interested in the replies also.

Having read all of VB's woeswith the tidal two ponds linked together, with it pumping out of and into the same tank, I made a small incision in my pipe work tonight and have tee'd off the return line with a pipe into the 2nd tank with a tap on it to vary the flow back into both tanks. Hope this solves any future problems of DO, and if I get duckweed and yabbies going in there, I will just turn it right down or off. Fish soon!

The weather seemsto havechanged here,so I am goingto give barra a go. I am going to get around 200. Anyone wantto share a pickup from West Beach? Possibly on Monday next week or Friday this week?

Yah, that's a pretty good idea, I'm searching for a smaller tank now, and a heater that's suitable, so I can put them into a "hospital environment until the weather warms up. I think I will end up with another 2nds poly tank, depending on what's available, and a blue barrel converted into a biofilter with gravel and shells, and then transfer themover to the big system when water temp hits 23 or 24.

Dan, If you are thinking silvers from Soladome, have you considered golden perch? The guy there reckons they are better suited (and I want to see how they go too!)

I'll go check that post on golden perch around here somewhere now.

If they are around the same price, and omnivirous then yeah, especially if they are better suited

Do they have them at soladome too?

Yeah, im just hoping my liner holds up. Callop and silver perch both have sharp bits, be it operculums or dorsal fins.......

I will look into them more tomorrow, but they do sound easier to breed then silvers :)
