Surface area of a sphere is 4*pi*r^2

I'm not really sure if the 12ft is the height (r) or the width (2r).

If 12 is the height:

4*pi*12^2 / 2 (for half sphere)

904 sq ft.

In 4' width that'd be 226' long.

If 12ft is the width:

226 sq ft, which would require 57' in length.

In either case, I'd add maybe 25% for overlap and inexact fits.

Geodome costs depend on materials. If you are using PVC, it would be...

For a 3V dome, 120 ft+200 ft+250 ft = 570 ft PVC plus fittings

So... $300?

How much does a 21 ft geodome kit cost?

From a materials point of view, no clue but a lot less than the retail price
Here`s a rough idea of what you`d need so you can work out the cost

Frame and riser wall: approx 750ft of 2x4 timber.
Hub plates: 8ft x 6ft sheet of 3mm thick aluminium.
Glazing: 604 sqft of 8mm twinwall polycarb plus 4 sheets of ext.plywood for cladding the riser.

Not forgetting the big roll of "aircraft tape" to waterproof the glazing seams on the outside.. that part of the design always worried me quite a bit

Actually.. gap filling foam could be the biggest cost
