As some of you would know, I have a number of purpose built aquaculture tanks that I bought when the opportunity arose some time ago. I bought more than what I probably need, but did so not knowing exactly what I would require. Although I am yet to put my large system together and hence still do not know exactly what I'll be using in this system, I have decided that it is unlikely that I'll use more than one of the 3000 litre purpose built aquaculture tanks that I have. I have decided therefore to offer one for sale - giving members here the opportunity to purchase before I advertise anywhere else.

The tank is like the one pictured in the following link (the picture is one that is on AP's thread - he and I purchased tanks together and lugged them back from Gympie). Features include:

- a shape which ensures that solids move to centre of tank for removal through a centre drain. The bottom is also slightly sloped to further encourage solids to move to the centre.
- 80mm centre drain.
- built in stand.
- fibreglass construction - built by/for Aquasonic, who are a major distributor of aquaculture equipment.

The tank is in good condition I do want to point out that there is some damage to the gelcoat surface which has been present since day 1 when the commercial operator (who AP and I purchased the tanks from) bought them from Aquasonic. This is present in all 7 tanks that AP and I purchased. Primarilly it involves bubbling that has been caused either by air being trapped just below the gelcoat or some sort of impurity just below the gelcoat (I reckon its the second). The guy didn't even know it was there and nor did AP or myself until later down the track (I thought it was a feature originally - ). I have removed a couple of the small raised bits on one of my other tanks and have identified that they are very shallow and do not extend to the fibre - so in this respect are no less sound (in fact are more sound) than a natural finish tank. I don't want to make a bigger deal of this aspect than it is, but also do not want to hide this imperfection from prospective purchasers.

The price is $1000 and is not negotiable. A new tank of this type/callibre is very expensive and freight from Aquasonic in NSW would add another $1000. I looked for over a year before I came across the lot of second hand tanks.

The tank is very heavy and quite large and would need to be picked up from my place on the northside of Brisbane.

Anybody interested should PM me. I'm happy to take pictures and provide any other information required.

Not too concerned if I don't Gnash - though I'm sure the missus would be really happy. Free up a bit of room in the shed. I've been tempted to keep all my tanks since they were so hard to come upon, but I'll still have my 3 1000 litre jobs and 1 3000 litre tank, as well as my other 2500 litre sump tank. Should do for a decent system

With great difficulty I'd suspect. May go on the tray back of a ute if sides of ute are removable.

I'll take some detailed measurements if anybody is interested.

I could try "less grass for you to mow"

I must admit that I did do a little surveying to see if I could fit in somewhere under cover :sigh:

Go for it Les, the tanks are great. It is easyer to say sorry than to ask for permission.
