Yeah, think it might have a bit to do with the temp direction - recall last year that mine didn't start eating again until around the 18c mark...will keep an eye on the temp as it drops around winter time and see when the feed drops off.

My tank got to 30c+ during the summer and didn't seem to bother the fish (Les went into premature HSM  tho )

I have Pacus, goldfish, koi, and tilapia, plecos. I used to have tinfoil barbs , pink gouramis and crayfish. The tinfoils ate the fins off my fancy goldfish. The Pacus ate the heads and tails off the barbs but left the goldies alone. My Koi get sick if they're with goldfish but they seem OK with tilapia fingerlings. I had a crayfish in a tank with three pink gouramis -- now there is only one gourami. I threw some tilapia fingerlings in with the crayfish and he immediately caught them by the tails and tried to eat them. It's been a week now and there are still 3 tilapia. I had 4 crayfish in with my large male tilapia and pacus -- I bet the crayfish tasted good. The Pacus seem to leave the tilapia fingerlings alone. The only time I've had tilapia hurt goldfish was right after the tilapia had spawned -- I guess the females are very territorial right after spawning.

I've heard that it is not a good idea to mix species in the same tank. But if a tank springs a leak -- or I have more fry than I can deal with......
