hello!

different story 'under load'

2 minute benchmark test saw cpu temp @ 50C

Just found out that my bios / mother board supports cool features like auto reducing Vcore and bus multiplier during low load to reduce power / temp.

The C2D/C2E dual core throttles at 80C.

Sure life will be shortened, however CPU's are so cheap nowadays, overclock the crap out of them - it will still be going in 2 years when its time to upgrade.

Rupe

Its not that bad, it also tells you why it fails eg "computer failed CPU test", then recovers after a cold boot.

settled on a 25% overclock to 2.0 GHz from 1.6GHz wont boot at bus speed of 266MHz. i'm new at this (24 hrs ;)) think it may have something to do with the dram speed being linked to the bus speed. seems to work ok with the ram running at 415MHz 10:6 ratio (auto set it would seem)

Did you up your cpuV and dramV? It all needs to be in harmony...

Plus... what is the speed of your ram? If it is only the same as the CPU FSB then you won't get it any higher... eg. 800mhz

You might want to get yourself some good ram like ocz, crucial or corsair... with a higher clock speed than necessary...
