I thought storing greywater was not good. All greywater use Ive seen here is used as is right away with no treatment.

i dont think 24hrs will kill anyone, having said that nasties reproduce quickly..........................

But he's not talking about spraying.................and its on a 3 day/plant rotation so hes sticking to the "dont waterlog" rule.

Chook food actually...
But I am having them tested for nasties!
There are three varieties that come up every year.
They feel and smell like real tommies, thin skin, full and juicy.
I have sliced a couple for a cheese and tommy sambo...delish

This is slightly OT but relates to KE's original post in this thread. Even where there's no space for a rainwater tank big enough to keep watering in summer, some urban dwellers have a tank for inside use during winter to take the pressure off reservoirs. Some jurisdictions with scheme water may only allow it for flushing toilets, but it all helps.

I have experienced a water collection system that was large cistern put under a poured patio. At one time it had a hand pump on it but was later converted with a pump and faucet on outside of the house. A hose allowed car washing as well as garden irrigation.

Anyone interested in greywater should check out:

http://www.oasisdesign.net/greywater/index.htm

Full of handy down to earth information. Most libraries stock the "Creating an Oasis with greywater" book.

I have designed many simple divert/pumpout sump units with basic primary 1mm screening mesh, 60L tank, float controlled submersible grey water pump, S-bend for odours on the delivery side and overflow back to the sewer line. Distribution return through 1" purple lilac greywater line to garden. This line can then connect onto 100mm slotted ag-pipe for distribution or just move as needed. Note a 6mm bleed off in the very bottom of the tank is a good idea as this negates the need for the automatic 24hr flush device found in a lot of systems to meet council requirements. B have a similar product available for around $550.00.

H20 Pure Plus has just received the tick of approval from Australian standards to treat and store grey water. The great thing about their grey water product is it uses a natural bio-media. ie. no chlorine, aerators, chemicals and a single submersible sump pump. It uses bugger all power and has a once per year maintenance requirement, in place only because treatment systems require a schedule by law. The tanks are made from 100% recycled plastic. Water quality is such that uses can include above ground irrigation, toilet flushing and washing machine. Best one I've seen. They do Black water, industrial, abatoir stuff as well.

Anyway I could go on, and probably will...
