I'm just testing their perameters, and then eating them. There is no waste just another experiment.

hey faye,

your really not a fan of those silvers are you? or do you just want to eat them all?. just kidding.

on a serious note i really think you should consider a small tank for top ups, with an airstone running continuously. you could even use it to grow duckweed/ purge fish. you can use a siphon to drain into the sump and control the water level by how low down you put the hose. this is what i have been doing lately and its working a charm.

this could save a disaster.

Faye - nice pictures. I now have Tilapia big enough to munch - but I am letting grow a bit larger until we move back up to our house (we are camping in the office now while our home is finished)

That was a great read! Awesome system Faye. You might have helped me loads by converting my other half to the notion of my "crazy AP plan"!

Well Charlie I would be telling her of the benefits to her including she will have fresh fish and veges at the back door. She won't have to run out to the shop to buy gorceries as often, saving her time, energy and money. Very educational for the children teaching them about science, maths, entomology, fish biology, pet care, health, cooking and gardenning.
Benefits to the environment may include water harvesting, no fertilisers, pesticides and chemical use. She won't have to bend and dig,or get her fingernails dirty. No sand on the spinach. No snails and lizards eating the strawberries. Just fresh, clean, green, quick growing veges. And its fun.
How much better can it get?
