Anyone used these style of tanks for either growbeds or tanks?
I'm just waiting on a quote and wanted to know if anyone had had any bad experiences.

e.g. http://www.tankworks.com.au/water-tank- ... color.html

Hi Uncle Yarra

Some of the slimline tanks have internal baffles or cross struts..
If you can them wide enough around 1m should be ok for fish..
What type of fish you planning on using?
Also you might have to open the top to get air in, but that would weaken the walls..

I do have a preference for using round tanks for the fish already; it was more a question for the growbeds (it's the best solution I can work out so far in my greenhouse design).
Thought I should ask in general in case someone said "yeah these are the best ever for x".
I'm still waiting on that particular manufacturer to get back to me on a quote for 1150x3000x300mm growbeds, btw.

Hi UY,

King Eric XIV uses an in-ground slimline tank for his fish: http://backyardaquaponics.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=477

Yeah my tank is 2260 long x 580 wide x 1140 h = 1450 litres. There are 4 internal baffles to hold it all together. I havent cut the top off but rather have cut holes in the top for access. The fish dont seem to mind it being a little narrow.

Hi Mate,

Don't know if these will be suitable, but if you're looking for growbeds you could give THESE a go.

They're working great, and as cheap as you'll find, for your dimensions just whack 2 end to end :)

Cheers,

Kenny.

1050 x 1870 x 320 mm, and at $130, ya can't go wrong :)

I'm assuming aesthetics is important? If not, bathtubs are $20 for pressed metal or $10 for fibreglass at Revolve/Aussie Junk. They're ~250L and I know you have at least one just sitting around =)

Yeah, thought about those, but I might need to make a different stand for each tub, depending on type/style/availability (and rust down the track as they aren't galvanised).

BTW, don't knock the aesthetics of my faded pink cast iron tub!
