You dork! Of course I updated the original one :D

http://www.backyardaquaponics.com/forum ... 757#109757

I've been updating it every day for the last 2 weeks, and have mentioned 'the graph' numerous times without double posting it! Sheesh, get with the times :P

My spidey sarcasm sense was tingling, but thought the sarcasm emphasis was on the word 'clearly' not 'graph' i.e. the 2 levels (pH and nitrate) are straight as train tracks, so obviously things are dead stable! :P I might have to revoke your membership to the sarcasm club until you learn how to wield it with more prowess ;)

I've cracked it with the dang algae and have decided to take action!

I've covered the front half of the pond with a tarp and the back half with some blackout blinds I had laying around (the direction of the photo is due north). Hopefully this combined with the cessation of feeding for the next few days will put the algae to death!

I want to see my little fishies to more accurately measure their feeding rate (and have clear water), as now I don't know how much food they're eating, and how much is being wasted.

I just tested after blocking out the sun last night, and these are the results:

pH: 7
Ammonia: 0.25
Nitrite: 0.25
Nitrate: 20-40

So yeah, from that it seems as if a algae massacre is going on! I'll keep it covered and deny food until Friday, hopefully that will take care of the little buggers! Single cell organisms! Who do they think they are...

Finally my pH is closer to where it should be, 8.4 is nonsense!

good idea on the food rationing. as a plus think about all that lovely algae that will shortly become nitrate :)
