Used a short offcut of the same diameter with a one "straight face",
slit it across, opened it a bit to fit it onto the pipe, slide it to the cut position
and either marked the cut or used it as a "round" straight edge for the cut.

Have one for each pipe size I used. Handy if you need a straight cut.

Well, after a long day at APing i got... ... not much done. THeplumber mate of mine stuffed around for ages on the water feed for the sink i intend to put in.
After that we finally got onto the limestone wall footings. We got two out of six footings in, so i guess i got some work to do this week.
I'll post some pics when i get more limestone done. Any volunteers to help, the blocks are a two person lift.

I got a whole heap more limestone done. I have all the footings in and most of the second course of the large blocks. I put on a "Limestone, Beer and BBQ nite" on Friday, and we worked under floodlights till almost 11.00.

Here are the result:

I got some more limestone done today, and am hoping to have the limestone and paving finished by the end of the Easter weekend.

I am still working on the standpipe in the tank issue, and was thinking of just coming out of the coupling and elbowing at the center of the tank, then finishing the pipe about 10mm off the bottom. Will that draw any sludge off the bottom andsuck it to the next tank?

Should help DP...getting the water to swirl around the central stand pipe will also assist in getting the sludge into the centre of the tank and removed

I have done some more limestone, and have got the pump running.
I got photos too :D

This is the walls that will support the grow beds. I still need to lay the small cut pieces on the ends, and point up the blocks.
Image

This is the limestone cladding around the sides of the tanks, the pipe squirting water is from the pump, and it is to use excess pressure and airate and circulate the water

Image

I have installed a test standpipe in the sump from the last fish tank to check the water flow. this is it when the pump was first turned on.

This is it after 5min,
