Hello Everyone,

1. Just to let you know that our organic pellets are now available for purchase. We also have a crumble which is a mixture of various sizes. I am working on trying to separate various particle sizes in the crumble to give a better consistent particle size per product and to offer different particle sizes. But this is for the future.

2. Just a note on organic integrity. People who wish to buy a 25 kg bag between themselves and split it up for their own use is OK and this does not affect the organic status of the feed. However, if you want to make a bulk buy to re-pack to on-sell to others it will lose its organic status unless your repacking operation is approved under the organic specifications and audited by an approved organic auditor. This is important to ensure organic integrity of the feed is maintained. Also, labeling of the re-packed product has to be approved by me to ensure it conforms with organic standards and the law for the sale of finished feed. The label must include my company name as the manufacturer.

3. We are looking into providing 1 to 5 kg packs (and in between) of crumbles or pellets which we can post or courier to people direct. We can provide potential distributors of our products product pre-packed to the sizes you require. I am currently working on the price list for these small packs. We currently have a distributor for Victoria (twintragics) so people in Victoria should contact twintragics direct.

4. If you are interested in being a distributor for your area please contact me. We are happy and keen to support potential distributors. Minimum buy for distributors is 20 X 25 bags or 500 kg in mixed pack sizes. Crumbles and pellets can be combined in the 500 kg. Please note below this freight costs can be expensive.

5. Please email me on michael@appliednutrition.com.au is you are interested or ring me on 07 3206 2568 or 0418 659 423.

I look forward to hearing from you all.

Kind regards,

Michael

Hi Michael - will you continue to allow us to buy from you direct at Capalaba, or is it likely that you will in future require us to buy from a ditributor locally here in Brisbane.

BTW - congratulations on getting things to this stage :-)

Hello Veggie Boy,

Anyone can buy from me direct if they so wish and pick up direct. However, the reason for having a distributor a long way a way i.e. Victoria is to help reduce the cost of freight and make it affordable. It is expected distributors will make a margin to cover their time and efforts but this should be cheaper than if you buy direct from me after freight is taken into account.

Kind regards,

Michael

Thanks Michael - have mainly Barra at present and half a sack of food left for the 10 or so perch that I have not eaten. So it will be next year for me - so I am glad you have done this.

We will have to guage the popularity of Barra growing in AP here in SEQueensland. I suspect that once a couple of us have had success - then many others will follow, growing a batch out over the warmer months. They grow so quickly and eat heaps. There may be a market for a barra feed in the future.

If I am prepared to distribute, who in WA will buy? Please let me know.

Hello Adrian,

As a distributor part of your job is to market the product and sell it. You are a central point from which other people in WA can conveniently buy. You put a margin on this to cover your costs, including freight, and also make a profit for your efforts. Clearly you need to sell it cheaper than what people can buy it direct from me in small quantities.

Sending the feed so far you probably need to look at purchasing a pallet to justify the freight cost. There are other silver perch growers in WA which may also be interested (not necessary organic producers).

I there are inquiries from Aquaponics people and small silver perch growers in WA who do not want to buy in pallet lots then we will refer them to you, if you become a distributor.

kind regards,

Michael

Thank you, Michael. I await reactions from WA APers. Referrals from you would also speed up the decision making process.

I would have thought that a decision by you to become a distributor... might speed up the referral process Adrian

Or are you just looking to get together and split a bag or two with a few others

Michael, a pallet-load is worth over $2K ex Capalaba--freight extra--a sum I am prepared to invest if I am likely to be able to generate enough interest. For this, I don't intend to merely rely on prospecting on the BYAP website. But exploring it here will help.

One week later: Michael, response suggests this isn't likely to take off.
