hehehe - took some pics and couldn't see the fish so ran a broom around the sides and bottom

The centre pipe got cleaned when I was connecting up the dividers/cattle gates for harvesting purposes.

TT, only had the 2 lots together since Sunday and they seem to be settling in well, I have been feeding one lot (which the biguns devour), then throw in another lot after...littlies are still getting a lunch feed, which the larger ones are disinterested in....will monitor and report if problems arise with the mix

With the feed, the small ones were eating ~500 grams/week, I have been feeding them as much as they can eat, 3 times a day and this equates close to 3% of body weight with an FCR of 1.5...I would say this will remain steady until the cooler weather drops the water temp (currently at 27c :D )

So you reckon they weigh about 24 grams each Les. They look bigger than that.

average 30 grams, there are some big ones in the lot, but some that aren't growing at a similar rate.

The pics of the fish by themselves are a little deceptive...the big fish in the main tank are the slow growers from my 1st lot (maybe pushing 250g), you can see the difference in size in the 3rd pic

I worked on the SP being 5 grams when I got them, though that may be an over estimation

I just wish your system and my fish were combined. Grow-out rate would make us spin. Mine are on 150 grams a day now and this is probably half what they would like :-(

From how the 2 lots of SP have been going/growing:

1) there has been about 15-20% that only need 12 months to get to a good eating size 350 gram+

2) about 60% will need an extra 3 - 6 months

3) which leaves 20% runts.

Would have been interesting if I had barra this year - the large SP would have been moved to the small tank for sure, with the barra in the main tank.

The reason for moving the SP fingerlings into the main tank was the 2 small 100 litre growbeds I have connected to the small tank could not handle all the fish crap - RSG filters clogged, shellgrit pipes clogged, lovely cleaned out sump tank silted up

Another update, pH has been gradually dropping, reached 6.4 so bought a bag of shell grit and added to the system...see how long it takes to recover :D

The fish are eating and growing and supplying the good stuff for the vegies

Had some rellies from down south and so beans were not looked after, consequently took off and has taken over 1-1/2 GBs...getting a sizable handful off the vine every day and have a frozen supply to last for months

Still using Raimo's method with the tomato vines and as is shown, still producing fruit :D (planted in July 2007)

See too much bare gravel so need to put in more plants
