Hmmm, went to buy one/two/??? and they had broken lids. The lids seem to be the same plastic as the tub, so didn't buy. Has anyone else found them brittle. The broken lids seemed to be split and cracked. At least I got motivated to empty the trailer!!!

I was looking at these bins in B today, $99 ...

They have a label on them that says something like "not for drinkable water".

Does that mean they're not suitable for AP?

Probably means they contain lead and such like in recycled plastics, one reason they are cheap. A real pity, they are a good size and shape, I have looked at them several times and keep coming back to the recycled plastic thing...

Bugger - I hadn't seen that label and was planning to get one soon to use as a sump when I connect the next grow-bed to my system :-(

I'm going to take another look next time I'm at B. Maybe we are just being too anal in regard to some of these things

Provided said goop sticks to the plastic then I don't see why not.

Maybe I'll get one and stuff a linter into it. Wouldn't need to be neat as it is only the sump and I have no fish in it. On the other hand - who could be bothered, may just have to go with another alternative.

sorry, that logic drives me crazy. if we all thought like that no one would leave the house.
the plastic bins are probably fine, if you want to be really careful buy a lead testing pen. they are about $20 for a pack of 3.
