Great setup Lungy, probably a stupid question yabbies will go in the black tubs? Also when your veggies are cranking will the grow beds be to high to harvest? they seem pretty high. :|

Unfortunately got to go with what I have Doot so I`ll build a set of movable steps up to the beds and I can get between them.
The tubs are really just a sump extension might come in useful for yabbies will have to wait & see though.

Just another question maybe a bit off track but what is the sole aim for a sump? are they always nessasary? im guessing to collect solids before they return to the fish tank :? and if so can u put yabbies in the sump?
Cheers

Doot, if ur fishtank sits higher than ur gbs, u need a sump. The gbs drain to the sump below them somewhere and then get pumped back up to the fishtank. If u have a big enough sump in this setup, u can get away with having only one pump. This is in ur sump, pumping to fishtank which overflows to gbs. Otherwise in this setup, pump from fishtank to gbs, drain to sump, then pump back to fishtank.

If ur gbs sit higher than ur fishtank, you pump from the fishtank to the gbs and just gravity drain back to the fishtank.

Solids are collected in the gbs, they are our biofilter. We don't collect solids in the sump (unless u have fish there) bc it is already filtered thru the gbs. If u have fish or yabbies in the sump, the sump pump pumps their crap back to the fishtank and that pumps out to the gbs.

Had some troubles with the sides collapsing on the tubs so I`m brickin them in! Also the pvc fairy has been and dropped of some 150 mm.

The question now is the gravity feed from the 2 IBC`s in the shed ,I`m looking to overflow the tanks by 2000l p/h feeding out to the beds.
I can also increase the capacity by adding another IBC so possibly up to 3000 l p/h.
I`m thinking of separately connecting the IBC`s from their outlets with 50mm up to a 80mm pipe at tank level then down and teeing off to the beds with 32mm or 40mm (easy to play around here) the furthest bed being 12 m from the IBC`s.
Their is only a 12" drop from the tank`s level to the bed outlet level as well can anyone see any problems with this line of thinking? Is 80mm overkill, Is it enough?Should I raise my IBC`s a bit?
HSM setting in early.

Are you putting a safety rail along the brick work so you don't fall backwards whilst harvesting, you may end up looking like my avatar.

80mm couplings are $60 each, 50mm couplings are alot less.
I went for the 80mm as i cannot redo mine once they are in.

If its worth doing it's worth over doing. go the 80's
