For those that may be interested our office Professionals Kalgoorlie is holding an UPWARDS auction next week in the Menzies shire (about 120k from Kal)

Being an upwards auction we don't actually want you to bid , any extra money will go to state government and they squander enough already.

The lots a mostly 1/4 acre and there is 250 of them, the prices are $5000 for a serviced block and $3000 for an unserviced one. This has to be about the cheapest price you will pay for land in WA.

Menzies is slowly going ahead with various mines around the place but it's growth is not equal to that of Kalgoorlie's, still if your into gold detecting and want a home base or just want a place away from the rat race these will be perfect.

If you need or want extra info pm me with your e-mail addy and I will get it through.

P.s. Our office isn't making any profit from this, it's a love job.

A while back they were giving away land in our southrn flinders ranges, about 4 hours north of adelaide. Only catch was, you had to pay the council rates. The blocks were repossed from people who hadn't  In the last few years the area has gone ahead with the mining boom. People who took a punt would be laughing now.

Well canopy of eucalypts is bit rich. I'd be surprised if many trees had a companion within 50m. Photos here will give you a clue..

My father was the Shire Clerk there for few years so we lived in the "main" street, next door to the town hall. At that stage it was still famously clock-less as talked about in the above link, but the shire was still fundraising for it.

Suffice it say few cars would slow to a stop on the account of Menzies. More the type of town that annoys you for having to slow down on your way to somewhere else

But gnash06 is right about a good base for prospector, and there is certainly "gold in them there hills"

A saw a show about that... An artist set up a number of those steel figures in an old salt pan, looked really nice in the right light.
