Me neither

On a serious note, they look a bit bigger than the 200mm you mentioned in your pm to me the other week. Are they all this big?

Best of luck with them, hope they like their new abode.

decided it was time to start harvesting the barra.

i lost quite a few of the silvers. i managed to save most of them with a salt treatment. i wanted to up the DO level so i took an air stone out of each of the barra tanks. then i lost a few barra from what i suspect was a DO problem, due to the removal of the stones.

many things have been going wrong and i decided i needed to harvest a few barra, so i at least get something back.

harvesting was easier then expected due to the net i used. the big rubber one. i was happy with the whole procedure as i didn't seem to stress them out much.

anyhow here is a pic of 6 large ones i took out. 3 from each tank. i would guess 500-700g each. they look smaller in the pic. i will take more when they are ready for an ice slurry.

there's a really good example of the stress line on a barra, shows up in both pictures. Enjoy your dinner :D

re stress lines. i asked the guy that i got them from about them and he seems to think they aren't stress related. they are more like birth marks. some have them and some don't.

this seems right as not all the barra in the tanks have them. those that do seem to be the ones that had them from the start. unless they were badly stressed when they came and never fully recovered. are you sure its stress related Jaymie?

mind you looking at the scar's on the middle one in the top pic i'd say he has been pretty stressed.

Beautiful fish, not missing a scale, that is for sure a proof of a good maintenance in the tanks, hope all will be better next time.
