OK so remember many moons ago when I upset a few people with a silly rant about harpooning Japanese instead of whales? Well if I upset you DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW!!!!! THAT MEANS YOU CITIZEN!!!
Anyway I just wanted to give a bit of an update on that moment. Yes I was emotional then but as a Byron boy those whales mean a fair bit to me. If I had my way every whaler would have to go thru me to get at them lol

Anyway I love my fish. I love my nature and I love my planet. I am also a loudmouth and a dam know it all when it suits me.
Anyway I wanted to do something to show how upset I was. So I joined a facebook group. Yea I know how lame you dam geek... but yea I HAD to do something. The place was full of trolls and prowhalers. A few of us banded together and cleaned shop. Anyway we now have over 125,000 members. I am one of 2 officers and I can happily say I now understand the whole topic a lot better.
Of course I get accused of being racist every day, recieve death threats and have people abuse me all over the web.... but you know what? I luv it. For every 1 bad letter I get 20 in support and this is only the begining.

I'm helping a mate setup an aquaponics system (redclaw and basil) and it has just been a joy. Seriously everything I learnt on this site here has been awesome.
I'm also more proud to be an Australian today than I have ever been in my life!!!!! So good times.
Just needed to vent that this place is great, I'm stoked kev said sorry and I ain't snobbing ya's.... just had to divert a bit of energy at the whaling industry. LOLS I may be one man, but damned if I haven't helped rattled the cage a bit.

Whilst I can't be bothered reading it all and signing up (enough reading to do here) I have to agree with you wholeheartedly. It is not racist to call somebody Japanese, if they come from Japan. It is only racist to treat somebody differently because they come from a different race.
So never fear mate, apply all the pressure you can to stop the bastards (not Japanese on the whole, just the whalers) from killing these magnificent beasts. If we have to embargo the whole country to do it, then that's what we do, this is not racist either, merely manipulative

I Admire the work people do to stop the slaughter of these magnificent animals. I happen to think shooting an explosive harpoon into anything is a bit off.
We see alot of coverage of this but not to much coverage of "the Grind" in the Faeroes, these are 22 islands between the Scottish shetlands and Iceland of which 17 are inhabited.
The people speak a nordic tongue and lived under Viking rule, then Norwegian and now Dane.

Every year when pods of pilot whales come close to the shores on migration they are herded in to bays and slaughtered.

I watched a docco on this not long back and the only positive thing I will say is the whales are slowly getting there own back, the poor things are that full of mercury that the Faeroese have the international distinction of having the highest levels of mercury in their bodies.

Its a worthy cause.
And its very cool having so many people to help brain storm it.
I know a lot more about whales now........ hit the web pretty hard trying to get a handle on all of this. Not a job for 1 man thats for sure, bt ya together we are reasonable confident our mob can make a difference.
