Haven't updated in a while. Basically, everything died :(. With the heaters I got the water temp up to 70F, and got a few sprouts.

My fish have been slowly dying off though. Water tests are 0's across the board, but I had been neglecting my tests for a while, so I don't know what might have happened in the mean-time.

So I picked up 10-15 new goldies today, and sowed some spinach and red onion seeds. We'll see how it goes.

Tamo, do you have an air source for your tank other than the pump and GB flood/drain?

Nope, I've always figured I got a lot of DO from the siphon spray.

Here are my current thoughts: add an air supply (with rocking bass), switch to FBF & tray GB instead of 300mm deep GB.

Working on the FBF right now, I need to get a valve, a stand of some sort, some tubing, and seal up my connections.

I took some water readings today after feeding my new goldies.

NH3, NO2, NO3
0, 0, 5

So I'm getting some conversion, and my bacteria aren't all dead. Which is good!

Water temp is 70F.

I'm going to keep feeding at the current rate, and watch my nitrates. Hopefully my seeds will germinate and start taking up the nutes soon.

FBF tube has sealant applied. Should be ready for further testing in a day.

I also removed some hydroton from the top of the GB. Now the water comes within about 1" of the surface at full flood.

That's the recommended level Tamo... unless you're trying to germinate seeds and/or the surface area of the growbed (unplanted) is extremely hot..... then if you can manually adjust your flood level you can "periodically" raise it to provoke germination and/or "cool" and hydrate newly emerged seedlings

Another good news/bad news situation. Air pump was delivered, and no fish have died in the past 2-3 days!

The bad news is that my heater broke (through my own stupidity), so i have another on order.

With the water temp now around 48, my shoots have kind of stalled.
