And the numbnut phiosophy that refuses to see that Preventitive Maintenance is a fixed cost (I would argue an asset) rather than a "just in time" inventory item......

Damn..... got that one wrong didn't ya you little penny pinching numbnuts.......

Wonder if they did a cost analysis comparison between possible compensation payouts and cost of annual insurance over a twenty year period.....

Ha! The lawsuits are going like crazy. For awhile there I thought we'd get our infrastructure taken care of[1], but then it all went back to politics...

C1 - I didn't mean to be snarky to you. Your comparison just caught me at the wrong angle. :?

[1] I live about 2 miles from the (former) bridge.

swanberg--Its ok, I was just pointing you in the right direction.
I remember seeing some bridges in Indonesia after the tsunami, that had NO reo (steel mesh or rebar) and the mix was made of shell grit and sand and cement, those bridges were still standing and the new bridges WITH reo had collapsed.
In those cases the steel had exfoliated(rusted), or 'grow' which had cracked the concrete and this was what caused the bridges to fail.

anyhow in a tank(besides the roof) there aren't many tension forces are there C1? mostly compression? And concrete will take a lot of force before failing under compression. especially if reo is not used - reo gives the concrete powers of tension, but sacrifices compression strength.
Did I get my first year materials right C1?

well, reo hold concrete together once it has cracked.
Concrete will almost always have some cracks from placement,
they maybe micro cracks from cure, srinkage, slump or freeze/thaw etc.
The perfect concrete job will have been designed to consider the best method of forming, placement, compaction, dimension and cure techniques to negate to possible probs.

Hi all, am new to forums so not quite sure. I have had a successful 12 months (after a previous twelve month or more of research, planning and building) with only a few spikes in test results (due to factors I could identify), so far so good! I am interested in local climate variation (I am from Coburg) and how people deal with these issues or if people even consider these annual fluctuations as merely contributing to the ebb and flow of all biological activity. I would be interested to know about any local food aquisition sites if they are available. Currently I am running about 120 SP (hard to count exactly) in 1000l with around 800l of growbeds (another 450l ready if needed). It is my first set-up and I would be interested to see larger more advanced systems. The information I have gleaned from this site and many others, a basic biological background, and patience have seen for myself a relatively problem free entry into aquaponics, thanks to all (and all websites) M.D
