Hello all,

Been lurking again after selling my home on acres. Moved into town and now have a system that has been going for 6 months. Thought I'd post to show those that are renting that it is still possible to have an AP system.

Details and Price

1 x Fish Tank: damaged bathtub approx 400L. Free
1 x Grow bed bathtub approx 180L. Free
1 x water tank for top up 240L bin connected to stormwater downpipe. Free
1 x waterfall header tank 240L bin. Free
1 x fibreglass water fall. Free unwanted gift (bit tacky but so are the bath tubs :) )
pipes and fittings. $100
Gravel. Free from rental under clothes line (minimal washing required)

Currently growing parsley, mint (yeh you read right EB living on edge even after reading your book :) ), oregano, rocket, and trees from local parkland
O.K. now for pics...

Quick update...

SATURDAY: One fish dead chopped almost in half, I have had the large yabbie in there for over 5 months with no fin nipping etc, so I thought they all got along. Solution: Put a divider between the yabbies and the fish.

SAUNDAY: the large yabbie had scaled the barrier (the height of the fish tank  ) and killed another fish. Started the pot boiling... then calmly simmered down and put a mesh bucket on top of him (after all this is pinchy the $4.00 aquarium mid-winter yabbie we are talking about, besides I didn't have any nice wine to go with him :D).

MONDAY: Yabbie still captive, fish taughting him from beyond the bars of course.

MORAL: to all those that I have claimed yabbies could get along with fish in low stocking I apoligise! The only solution I see is a suitable barrier, or a deeper tank with hiding places midway as well as on the bottom. The fish would swim in the middle and feel safe to hide from below and above, and hopefully stay out of the way, maybe :)

I just hope pinchy doesn't hold a grudge, can just see him trying to bite me in half in my sleep.
