ok, what you do then is take it to the OFF setting and then back to the ON setting.

it will remain off until the NEXT on cycle when it will revert back to normal auto operation.

stay up and let us know.

I guess what i thought was a dumb function is actually a good one in your case where over filling is an issue.

Great News Jacinta, Scottie will be most pleased I can assure you... If he's not, point him at my thread as gemmell mentioned :-)
I have one of these timers too, a pity I was up in Shepparton, where internet is not so easy... I know that thing back to front now that I no longer need it :-(

Thank you, Jacinta!!! I hope that my other half would be as dedicated if he ran up against a problem while keeping my fishies!

Sounds like quite a powerful pump if things overflow in less than 10 minutes.

Is there a bypass set up to help aerate the fish tank when the pump kicks on? That would probably allow longer on cycles and provide more aeration?

Good luck!

Hi all,

I'm back. Yep, Jacinta sure did a great job looking after the fishies while I was overseas! It turned out she did everything right but got confused about the cycle times. (Next cycle after 8pm is 1am - but Jacinta was expecting one before then.) Anyway, all good - thanks so much to everyone for helping her out, muchly appreciated. & of course, thanks to Jacinta too! (a different kind of thank-you!)

KP - yeah. I read about your incident while I was in Hawaii. My condolences. Kinda freaked me out actually, given I was in a similar situation. ie. Away from home & leaving the better half in charge of AP.

Here are some pics of the state of the system. It is now ~1 month since I sprinkled some seeds around 3 of the GBs. Seeds planted were:

Pak Choy
Rocket
Silverbeet
Parsley
Lettuce

Germination of lettuce is very poor. Pak Choy is doing best of all ... but not nearly as well as the damn self-seeded Angophora trees!

Yesterday, Jacinta & I seeded the other 2 GBs with:

Climbing Beans (purple)
Dwarf Butter Beans (yellow)
Snow peas
Cherry tomatoes
(more) Rocket
Spring onion
Hmmmm, & some others which I forget
(edit:
Chives
Mixed Lettuce
Basil
Sugar snap peas
Dwarf snow peas
Iceberg Lettuce
sunflowers)

Also put a couple of Marigold seeds in each bed.

TT - yep, I'm also a member of the bathtub brigade ... praise Worms! Our holy leader! :)

For the last few days I've been playing hide-&-seek with Sneaky, the last remaining occupant of the waterbeds. He keeps hiding in the 50mm PVC pipe connecting the 2 waterbeds, but today I finally caught him! :D Now he's in the FT with the rest of his mates.

Beware of giving names to the fish because it gets difficult to eat them afterwards !!
