Hi BR,

How's your system going? Have you converted the lid of your tank into a growbed yet? How did you cut your tank?

I'm thinking of having a similar setup to yourself: http://backyardaquaponics.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=65220

Any advice you have would be muchly appreciated.

Scott. :)

Scottie,

No I havent used the lid yet.

The system is in a sad state. I was thinking of some besser blocks to rest the lid on.

This week will be a frenzy of rebuilding :D

Thanks

I was going to take some disaster shots before I got out the whipper snipper and cleared the forest where the lid grow bed was going but the kids have taken my camera battery for some strange reason. Grrr!

Here is a picture of the disaster site.

I moved my tank ages ago to under the patio.

I have been working 2-3 days a week in canberra for most of the year. One day I arrived home from canberra and one of my sheep had decided to jump up on the stand and have a feed. It's extra weight pushed over the stand.

I have kept water flowing through one of the old grow beds to keep things going. I have a hydroponics channel with tomatoes growing in pots to keep down the nitrate.

It apears you have steves aversion to mowing, perhaps those are the wrong words. If I didn't get a break every 6 months with snow that could very well be a shot of my side yard.
Good to have you back BR.

So have you still been turning the water over through the beds... still have fish... or has everything been dormant for a while???

I have been putting the water through one bed. The fish are ok just have'nt been producing anything except for a few tomatoes and the odd lettuce.

I will try to get a picture of the fish when I feed them. I started out with 100 jadies but I have no idea how many are in there now.

I have recently put on a canister filter to clean up the water so I can enjoy looking at them more.
