The plants in the dirt garden love the water from the bore we just got installed , but i wonder what fish would think of it

Im intending to set up my new system , fill it with bore water and established seedling and let er rip , I wonder - how soon should I add fish then , if the plants are already in & taking minerals from the water .
I understand the bacteria will take a while to build up but maybe with a dose of human supplied ammonia the bore water itself may kick start the bacteria growth a bit ?

where would I get it tested ?

Ring the council they should know where to get it tested.I know Faye uses bore water with success but she is in Jandakot.

What area are you in?
There are testing labratories all over the place, I know that bore water in Stirling was poisonous at one stage (built on a tip from 35 years ago) and home owners had their plants dying. You would probably already know if your water was toxic. We are over the Jandakot mound and careful about what we put on our garden as we don't want nutrients leaching.

I'll still get it tested , my bores 17 metres down , only needed to be seven

so , heres my bore water according to the Government Department of water :

Groundwater Salinity - TDS in mg/L 500 - 1000 ( marginal )

Groundwater Risk - Low risk - Groundwater quality and quantity likely to be acceptable for garden use

Surface Geology type - Tamala Limestone: Leolian calcarenite, variably lithified, leached quartz sand

Acid Sulfate class No known risk
( theres only class 1 to class 3 - "Class 3 : Low to nil risk of shallow ASS or PASS; Generally at >3m depth" , mines at "None" )

You're still using an Amiga 500 on the net!! Wow - I love antiques (I've got a few in the shed along with a nice Amiga 1200, CD32 if you want any).

So from a complete Newbie - Thanks for the bore water info, I guess I didn’t need to post about the possibility of using tap water (looks over the fence at my neighbors bore … hmm)
