Thanks Alchemist for taking the time to explain all that it`s all becoming clearer to me. :)
My power is very reliable here in Perth so thinking of a full backup system only.I already own a 500w inverter which I have hooked up to the van battery which works well when needed and was cheap off Ebay.
I`m a Comms Cabler by trade and have done all my dc & ac theory but putting it into practice is another story.Lucky I have a few sparkie mates to help me when needed.

No problem Lungy. You sound like you would know a lot more about electrics than me and I had no problem with setting this up so you cvertainly shouldn't. BTW I was thinking $12/w when I guesstimated the value of your panels, but that would be installed. Panels only might be $6/w to$8/w which makes say $2000 to $3000, still a great score. The Solaronline website will tell you. Cheers.

Even if its backup only, I would run an air stone off it just so you know its in working order with a quick glance of the tank.

There is always the option of finding out who supplies those particular panels and returning them.....

Yeah there is that but if they can`t be bothered tying down a load and almost causing me an accident can I be bothered to return them.
At the moment I`m inclined to put them to good use and stuff them. That may change.
Wonder what the law says about salvage on the roadways.Anyone know?

Think only salvage on the seas Lungy, things will have been written off by now and if it was for a project not sure they'd trust them

Talk to Tony re use he's pretty cluey.

Steve. Something belongs to a person until the relinquish ownership.
So I guess if you find something it's only theft if they still want it.
Eg, I found a milk crate the other day, or a shopping trolley. These are both things they are fond of prosecuting ppl over even if they were 'found'
Unless of course we are referring to marine salvage laws... If it's on the water, then it's finders keepers no matter how good or wanted it is.

Well there is no address or supplier name or serial number apart from made in Mexico and the brand name/model # on them makes it hard to return.Could make a police report and if no-one claims them I`m good.

Steve, the last time I did something like that; the guy pulled $20 out of his wallet and handed it to me. Said his cards were worth a lot more
