I dont work in mental health care, however sister in law was going out with a older man who had voices telling him to kill people. He was not able to access any government help because all the positions were full :(. Ended up trying to kill himself a few times.

Can't you see him in the water in your avatar? He's quite clear to me :-)

Sorry about the cross-topic pollination...

This is what happens when THE LAW softens, I bet IF they catch this guy he will have a record of crap like this.
I will also bet that some smart arsed lawyer got him of the charges? :x

Personally, anyone who would willingly work as a Defense attorney trying to loose an offender back into the public should also be sent to jail... possibly with the others he wasn't so successful defending... just a thought.

PS, lot of people here seem to work in the mental health field from what I can see. I have family in the mental health field including my fiance. I don't think there is any sort of rehab that works... not for these guys.

So, are you guys saying that if someone is accused of doing something terrible they should not get a day in court, not get defense? Gee, the Bush admin still needs folks who think like that...

But seriously, we've seen plenty of folks here on death row, put there with eyewitness accounts, who turned out to be INNOCENT. I've personally seen innocent fun (frat brothers turning over their car in their parking lot) turned into a drunken rampage by local papers that conveniently omitted the ownership and location facts. We've all heard of events where the crime was so horrific that police felt they had to arrest someone and accuse them of the crime. I don't care what someone has done, how much I am personally outraged, they should get competent defense.

But don't let them out to do it again, esp if they are multiple offenders.

Exactly Hydro... Multiples are what I am talking about. My mother and Fiance work with people with split personalities, hear voices, chronic substance abuse/addictions, and ones who have no self control/remorse for their actions.

I challenge anyone to feel sorry for a mother who decided her kids had the devil inside them, and stabbed them to death, and covered up their deaths for over 3 months while they rotted in her apartment. Do I want or even care if she gets competent defense attorneys? Not really, lock her up and throw away the key because she's tried to do this numerous times... and her kids were given back to her by the Department of human services, against the recommendations of CMH...

This happened in Detroit, wasnt a case any of my family was involved in, but NO....... Everyone gets their day in court... but a person like her... throw away the key... please... just don't let her out near my kids!
